Verify an Image

Go to midjourney.com/verify, upload an image, and we'll tell you if Midjourney made it. It's free, you don't need an account, and we don't keep your image.

Every image Midjourney delivers has a small ID tag hidden inside the file. The checker looks for that tag and confirms it points to a real Midjourney image. A tag that was faked or copied from another image won't pass.

You'll see one of three answers:

  1. This image was created with Midjourney. The tag is there and it's real.
  2. The metadata doesn't check out. The file has a tag, but it doesn't point to any real Midjourney image. Someone may have tampered with it.
  3. No Midjourney metadata found. There's no tag in the file. That doesn't mean Midjourney didn't make it. The tag is easily lost: Screenshots, edits, and most social media sites remove it.

For the most reliable answer, check the original downloaded file and not a screenshot or a copy from social media.

There's a daily limit on checks so the service stays available for everyone.
