Adjust your default Midjourney settings in Discord with the /settings
command
Accessing the Midjourney settings panel in Discord lets you change your default settings with ease. Here’s how to find it:
- Open your Discord app and go to the message box. Make sure you are in a server or channel that the Midjourney Bot has permission to access.
- Type
/
in the message box. You’ll see a list of commands pop up above. - Keep typing until you see
/settings
. This helps narrow down the options, just like a search field. - Once you spot
/settings
in the list, click it. If you aren't seeing any Midjourney commands, try our command troubleshooting tips. - Press Enter or Send to execute the command.
Now, look out for your settings panel; it’ll pop up right in your message feed. This is your easy-access spot to view and change your default settings—simple and straightforward!
Only you can see your settings panel and options. Even if you enter the command in a public channel, only you can view it and make changes.
Your website and Discord settings are synced. This means that if you change your settings in one place, they'll automatically change in the other. Double-check your settings to make sure they're set the way you want them before you generate images!
Settings Options
Midjourney Default Version
Set your default model version using the dropdown menu. This is the version that will be used on all your prompts unless you specify a different one in your prompt with the version parameter.
RAW Mode
Click RAW Mode to automatically add --style raw
to all your prompts. Check out our style parameter article for more information.
Stylize
The settings panel has four stylize parameter presets that you can use. Stylize med
is the default. Stylize Low = 50, Stylize Med = 100, Stylize High = 250, Stylize Very High = 750
Personalization
Clicking this button will turn on personalization, and --p
will be added automatically to all your prompts. If you have multiple personalization profiles, go to your Personalize page on our website to set your default profile.
Public Mode
By default the Public mode
button will be highlighted green. If you have a subscription plan with access to Stealth Mode, you can click this button and it will turn gray—meaning you are in Stealth Mode.
Remix Mode
Toggle this button to turn remix mode on or off.
Variation Modes
Set your default variation mode to either Strong or Subtle. Strong is the default.
Turbo, Fast, Relax Modes
Set your default GPU speed. Basic plan subscribers do not have access to Relax Mode.
Reset Settings
Use this button to reset your stylize setting to medium and remove any custom suffix parameters set with the /prefer suffix
command (explained below).
Note: You can override a default setting by manually adding the parameter with a different value to your prompt.
Custom Suffixes
Want to automatically add text snippets or parameters to all your prompts? Simply use the /prefer
suffix
command, click new_value, type your text and/or parameters, and press Enter or Send to execute the command. If you are using both prompt text and parameters, make sure the parameters are entered last. You can view your current suffix in the settings panel, above the version menu.
To remove a custom suffix, use the /prefer
suffix
command again, but press Send or Enter without clicking new_value. Or you can use the Reset
Settings
button in the settings panel.
Option Sets
Use the /prefer option set
command to help you bundle multiple parameters or text snippets into a shortcut you can use repeatedly.
In the example below we are creating an option set called "mine" that contains a chaos and aspect ratio setting.
Once created, use it like this: vibrant California poppies --mine
. It acts like typing vibrant California poppies --chaos 5 --aspect 2:3
. Like a shortcut!
To create an option set:
- Use the
/prefer option set
command. - In the option field, type the name of your set.
- Click +1 more next to your new name, then click value from the box above.
- In the value field type your text snippets and/or parameters. Remember, all parameters must go at the end of your prompt.
- Press Enter or Send to execute the command.
To see a list of all your option sets, use the /prefer
option list
command.
To delete an option set, use the /prefer option set
command, select your desired option set from the pop up list, and then simply press Enter or Send.
Option sets can be used in prompts on midjourney.com, but can only be created and managed in Discord.
Your option set will "expand" wherever it's placed in your prompt. If you are using text snippets in your option sets and adding additional parameters in your prompt, make sure that all parameters are at the end of your prompt.
