Adjust your prompt and guide your variations and edits using remix!
What is Remix?
With remix, you can tweak or adjust your prompt text while working on your Midjourney images. When you make variations, use the Vary Region tool, or try the pan tool, remix lets you steer how your images turn out. You can change both your prompt and the parameters you used.
Remember, remix works a bit differently on our website versus Discord, so let's explore the details for each!
Using Remix
-
Start by clicking on any image you've made on your Create or Organize page. This will open the image, revealing more options.
Next, look for the "Creation Actions" section where you'll find the Remix options. Choose from Subtle or Strong, depending on how different you want your new images to be from the original. These options work the same way they do with variations.
If you can't find the Remix options right away, just click "More options" and add a checkmark next to Remix to make them visible.
After clicking one of the buttons, your original prompt and image will automatically populate in your Imagine bar with the "remix" label. From here you can edit your prompt and submit it. If you make changes you're unhappy with, use the Reset Prompt button to revert back to your original prompt.
If you'd like to change your prompt while making additional edits, click the "Editor" button. This loads your image into Midjourney's Editor, where you can make multiple changes at once (pan, zoom out, remix, and vary region). You can make changes to your prompt in the "Edit Prompt" section of the Editor.

In Discord, remix is a mode that you can turn on to unlock the ability to edit your prompt while performing other actions like making variations, using Vary Region, re-rolling 🔄, and panning.
Use the settings command and click the
🎛️ Remix Mode
button in your settings panel to turn it on. You can also run the standalone/prefer remix
command to turn the mode on or off.The default variation mode (Strong or Subtle) in your settings will automatically be used when remixing a variation with the
V#
buttons.
Changing Parameters
You can add or remove parameters while using remix, but your parameters must remain compatible with each other. For example, if your original prompt has --version 3
--stylize 8000
and you change your prompt to --version 4
, you will get an error message because the maximum stylize value for version 4 is 1000.
Only parameters that normally influence variations will work while using remix, including: aspect ratio, no, stop, and tile.
Changing aspect ratios with remix will stretch an image. It will not extend the canvas, add missing details, or fix a bad crop. To adjust aspect ratios or fix cropping issues, try custom zoom, pan, or using the Editor instead.
