Unlock creativity with the Editor: Combine remix, vary region, pan, and zoom effortlessly!
What is the Editor?
The Editor on midjourney.com provides a simple and easy-to-use web interface for giving new life to your favorite Midjourney creations. This tool lets you explore and play with features like remix, vary region, pan, and zoom—all at once, or in any mix you choose!
Remember, the Editor is only for Midjourney-made images, while the Full Editor handles images you upload yourself, even if Midjourney didn't create them.
Web Editor Walkthrough
-
Open Your Image in the Editor
Start by clicking on any image you've made on your Create or Organize page. This will open the image, revealing more options.
Next, look for the "Creation Actions" section where you'll find the Editor button. Clicking it will launch the Editor.
If you can't find the Editor button right away, just click "More options" and add a checkmark next to More options to make it visible.
-
Erase / Vary Region
In the Editor, the Erase tool is handy for changing parts of your image. Want to tweak or recreate something? Just paint over the area with the Erase tool. If you make a mistake or decide to keep what you've erased, no sweat—you can switch over to the Restore tool. This lets you paint back the parts of your original image. Plus, you can adjust the size of these tools using the brush size slider. This way, you have more control over the details when you’re making changes.
To tell Midjourney what you want to change or add in the areas you've painted over, edit your prompt to the right of your image.
This works like the Vary Region tool in Discord.
-
Scale / Zoom Out
The Scale slider lets you shrink your image within the canvas. The smaller you make your image, the more space Midjourney gets to fill in around it. If you prefer, you can also click and drag the corners of your image for the same effect. This feature works like Zoom Out but gives you extra control over how much of the image you want to adjust.
You can also click and drag the move tool
in the center of your image to move it around your canvas.
-
Aspect Ratio / Custom Zoom / Pan
You can choose a new aspect ratio for your image. When you do this, you'll see an outline showing the new shape your image will take. Once you submit, Midjourney will fill in that new space. This process is similar to the Custom Zoom feature in Discord.
There's another way to adjust your image besides the Scale slider or aspect ratio buttons. Look for the small gray bars centered around the edges of your image. You can click and drag these bars to either extend or crop your image. This method works much like Panning, giving you more control over how you frame your artwork.
You can also click and drag the move tool
in the center of your image to move it around your canvas.
-
Edit Your Prompt
To the right of your image there's a handy feature for editing your prompt. Just click and type to make changes. You can adjust the text, tweak or add parameters, and change how you're using reference images. If you ever want to go back to your original prompt, hit the Reset Prompt button to restore the original. This is similar to the Remix feature.
Updating your prompt can really help to reflect any changes you want in your image. For instance, if you erase some details, consider describing exactly what you’d like to see instead. Or, if you're expanding the image, describe what you'd like to fill the new space with. This gives Midjourney clearer guidance on what to create for you.

Final Notes
At any point you can undo a change, re-do it, or reset the Editor to start over and remove all changes.
Once you're ready, press the Submit button and your new images will start generating on your Create page. Use the Close button to exit the Editor, or use the Back button to return to your original image.
If you have access to the Full Editor, you can also quickly open your image in that tool using the Open in Full Editor button.
