Create custom image styles with personalized profiles and moodboards using --p
Before you can start using version 7, you'll need to unlock your V7 Global Personalization Profile by ranking image pairs. See Version 7 Personalization for more information.
What is Personalization?
Personalization acts like a style assistant for your image creations. By liking or ranking images and creating moodboards, Midjourney learns your visual preferences and uses that information to generate images that match your tastes and unique style.
Personalization is compatible with Midjourney versions 6, 6.1, 7, and Niji 6.
Version 7 Personalization
Global Personalization data is tied to each Midjourney version, so your rankings from version 6.1 won't carry over to your version 7 Global Profile.
To get started with version 7, you'll need to unlock your new V7 Global Personalization Profile. This means you'll need to rank at least 200 pairs of images.
Once you've unlocked your Global Profile, you have the option to turn Personalization off if you'd prefer, and you can add a V6 Global Profile code to V7 prompts.
Personalization Profiles
You can create multiple profiles, each with a different style or mood. Each profile has a unique ID that generates a code when you use in your prompts.
Create and manage your personalization profiles on your Personalize page.
Global Profile
This is your default profile. You'll need to unlock this profile by ranking images before you can create additional profiles. When ranking for your Global Profile, try to avoid "skipping" as much as possible—more data results in a better tuned Global Profile.
Your Global Profile is the only profile affected when you like ❤️ images from other users on the Explore page. Liking images made with V7 will affect your V7 Global Profile, and liking images made with V6 will affect your V6 Global Profile.
Ranked Profiles
These are extra profiles you can create to focus on specific styles. You rank pairs of images to tell Midjourney what you like.
When you rank image aesthetics on the website, you will need to pick which profile you are ranking for from your Personalization page. New ranking data will only apply to the profile you select.
Moodboard Profiles
You create these by selecting specific images that set a particular mood or vibe. You can upload your own images, provide image URLs, or select images from your gallery.
Creating Personalization Profiles
-
Head to the Personalize page on the Midjourney website to view and manage your personalization profiles. This is your starting point for customizing your image styles.
-
Turn on personalization using the toggle switch. This will automatically add your default personalization profile to all your prompts.
-
To create a new ranked profile, click the "Create Ranked Profile" button.
This will take you to a new page where you'll rank pairs of images. Choose the image you like best between the two options.
Continue ranking until you've unlocked your profile, which is necessary before you can start using it.
-
To create a moodboard profile, click the "Create Moodboard" button.
This will take you to a blank moodboard page. Here, you can upload images from your computer or device, add images from URLs, or add images from your Midjourney gallery.
-
Hover your mouse over a profile and click "Use Profile" to add your profile ID to the Imagine bar.
If you've turned on personalization, you can also use the "Select" button on your favorite profile to set it as your default profile.

You'll only be able to use personalization once you've ranked enough image aesthetic pairs and/or ❤️ed enough images from the Explore page. If you try to use --p
without enough data, you'll see an error message directing you to do more ranking.
Personalization Codes
Your personalization profiles will grow and change as you keep liking and ranking more images. As your profile updates, it will generates new codes that act like labels for the different versions of your profile.
Copy the ID from your profile to use the latest version. To find older codes, you can use the /list_personalize_codes
command in Discord or revisit your previous prompts to see the codes you used before.
Note: When using a profile ID it will automatically convert from --p pID
to --p code
when you submit your prompt.
Managing Your Profiles
You can manage your profiles by renaming or deleting them. To do this, click the three dots icon and use the pencil button to rename it or the trash can
button to delete it.
When you delete a profile it disappears from your profiles list, and you won't be able to add any new data to it. However, any codes that were already created from that profile will still work, allowing you to continue using its style in future prompts.
Stylize with Personalization
When using personalization, the stylize parameter controls how much of your personalization is applied to the image. A lower stylize value will limit the personalization, while a higher value will increase it. The stylize parameter accepts values from 0 to 1000. The default is 100.
